Spice Diana Chooses Music for Now, Leaves Politics as Possibility
The music industry in Uganda has been seeing an unusual trend lately, with more entertainers stepping into the political arena.
This shift has sparked a growing debate, with many asking whether politics has become a Plan B in case the microphone fails.
On this topic, Ugandan singer Spice Diana, whose real name is Namukwaya Hajara Diana, has shared her thoughts.
Speaking to Rewind, the “Omusheshe” hitmaker said every musician has the right to choose their own path.
“A musician decides what they want to be. If they are tired of singing and want to join politics, it is up to them because everyone decides what they want to do with their lives. I cannot decide for anyone.”
When asked about her own path, Spice Diana revealed that her focus remains firmly on music, at least for now.
Still, she is open to what the future might hold.
“I am on music. I am focusing on music because that is what I know best. Things concerning the future I do not know. If God decides that I will be a politician later on, it is okay. If I also do not become a politician, I will do other things. I cannot say that I will not be something because I do not know what the future holds for me. So, we shall see about that.”
Her remarks speak to a larger conversation about freedom of choice and the changing role of entertainers in Uganda’s society.
For Spice Diana, music is the now, but politics might be the future, and she is keeping her options open.
