Stecia Mayanja Summoned by NPP Over Museveni Rally Performance
Singer Stecia Mayanja, president of the National Peasants’ Party (NPP), is facing criticism for performing at a National Resistance Movement (NRM) rally in support of President Yoweri Museveni.
The performance took place on September 23, 2025, at Kololo Grounds in Kampala, at a time when her party is preparing to finalize its presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections.
The National Peasants’ Party has formally summoned Ms. Mayanja to explain her actions.
In a notice signed by Secretary General Sharif Sentongo Nambale, she is required to appear before the party’s National Executive Committee on September 25, 2025, at 4:00 pm.
Ms. Mayanja’s involvement in NRM rallies contravenes our party’s constitutional principles.
The notice warns that failure to attend without valid justification may result in disciplinary action.
It also affirms that Ms. Mayanja will receive a fair hearing before any decision is made.
Stecia Mayanja has not yet issued a public response to the summons.
Her hearing before the NEC will determine her future within the party and could affect the National Peasants’ Party’s unity as the 2026 elections approach.
