Joseph Tamale Mirundi Junior, son of the late controversial political commentator Tamale Mirundi Senior, has criticided Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleone for failing to emulate his peers in how they treat their wives.
His remarks have reignited discussions on the private lives of celebrities and their impact on family values.
Speaking during an interview, Tamale Junior lauded artists like Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine for their devotion to their spouses.
“How does Bebe Cool treat his wife, Zuena? To show that he loves her, Bebe made a video and dedicated it to her while in South Africa. If you want peace with Bebe Cool, don’t touch his wife,” Tamale said.
He further praised Bobi Wine for his respectful treatment of his wife, Barbie, emphasizing his non-tribalistic nature.
“Look at how Bobi Wine treats his wife. Bobi Wine isn’t tribalistic,” he added.
Tamale then turned his attention to Chameleone’s family, referencing allegations of domestic disputes involving his wife, Daniella Atim, and their children.
He claimed that Chameleone’s son, Abba Marcus, has grown up witnessing his mother in distress, reportedly leading the young boy to view his grandparents negatively.
Tamale’s comments come in the wake of a viral TikTok video by Abba, where he accused his grandparents and his father’s friends of irresponsibility and neglect.
Abba expressed frustration over the perceived lack of concern for his father’s health and well-being, revealing that Chameleone suffers from acute pancreatitis, a condition often linked to prolonged heavy drinking.
In his video, Abba also criticised his grandparents, accusing them of contributing to the deaths of his uncles due to negligence.
Chameleone’s younger brother, AK47, died in 2012, and another sibling, Humphrey Mayanja, passed away from cancer earlier this year.
Media personality Kasuku came to Chameleone’s defense, asserting that the singer has made sacrifices as a father and provider.
“When you ask Abba what his mother was doing, he cannot even explain,” Kasuku said.
Kasuku’s remarks align with a broader narrative of Chameleone’s struggles as a family man, further compounded by his deteriorating health.
Chameleone was recently hospitalised in Kampala, with reports indicating that he is battling acute pancreatitis and liver disease.
The Mayanja family, known for its musical success, has faced repeated public scrutiny for issues related to alcohol abuse and violence.
Chameleone’s ex-wife, Daniella Atim, has publicly accused his mother of enabling her sons’ behavior by shielding them from accountability.
