Tems Makes History as Bestselling Female African Artiste in the US

Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has made history as the first female African artiste to have a single sell over 10 million units in the United States.

Her hit collaboration with Future and Drake, “Wait For U,” recently hit the 10 million unit sales mark in the US, according to chart-tracking platform Chart Data.

The milestone makes the song eligible for a US RIAA Diamond certification.

Tems is the second African artist to achieve this feat, following Wizkid’s success with Drake on “One Dance.”

The “Love Me Jeje” crooner is now the best-selling female African artist in the United States, with hits like “Essence,” “Free Mind,” “Higher,” “Me & U,” and “Found” earning multiple Platinum, Platinum, and Gold certifications.
