The Gift of Absence: Why Rabadaba Took a Break from Music and What Is Next
“If they do not appreciate your presence, give them the gift of your absence” seems to be the code Rabadaba lives by.
After spending time away from the spotlight, the dancehall artiste, whose real name is Faisal Sseguya, has finally spoken out about his decision to take a break from the music scene.
In a recent media interview, he shared that he felt his work was not being valued the way he believed it should have been.
Rather than forcing his way through the noise, he chose to quietly step aside, leaving music lovers to enjoy what he described as “bubblegum music.”
“When you feel unappreciated, sometimes the best move is to step aside. That is exactly what I did. I took a break and let people enjoy the bubblegum music they seemed to prefer at the time,” he shared.
Looking back, Rabadaba now feels the break worked in his favor.
According to him, It gave fans the time to realize the value of his contributions and reminded many of the mark he left on the music industry.
Now, he says he is ready to return.
This time, not just as an artiste, but as someone on a mission to restore quality and meaning to a music scene he feels is starting to lose its way.
