“They Did Not Make Me, I Made Myself” — Biswanka on Fangone Forest Fallout

Ugandan singer Biswanka says leaving Fangone Forest, the camp led by Alien Skin, is a decision he does not regret.

Biswanka has been at the center of a dispute with the camp over how his time there ended.

While Alien Skin previously said he chased him away for breaking rules, he insists he left on his own terms.

Speaking during an interview on Rewind, the “Ontunulemu” hitmaker said joining the camp was a mistake and had nothing to do with his breakthrough.

Regret that I left? I think I even delayed leaving. I delayed, and I even think going there was a mistake. They sometimes claim that they made me, yet that is not true. I made myself. I did not break through because of a collaboration with anyone there. My song broke through on its own as a solo single.

He also rejected claims that he sought out Fangone Forest, saying the camp approached him.

Even going there, it was them who called me because they saw that I was talented. I did not take myself there, nor did I slide into anyone’s DM begging to join. It was them who looked for me.

He further dismissed claims that he was chased from the camp, saying he left after establishing himself as an artiste.

I left because I had gotten big, just like how Mowzey Radio left Leone Island. Let’s leave it at that.

Biswanka’s remarks add another layer to the ongoing disagreement between him and Fangone Forest over how his time with the camp began and ended.
