Tiwa Savage Says She Does Not Want to Be Called ‘Queen of Afrobeats’
Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage has revealed that she is not comfortable being tagged as the “Queen of Afrobeats.”
She said many other female artistes also deserve recognition.
Speaking in a recent interview with Apple Music’s Ebro, Tiwa Savage explained that while she appreciates the honor, she does not accept the title because it comes with responsibilities.
The singer said she feels the label is uncomfortable and does not make sense to her.
She believes it would require her to always stay humble and live up to the title.
Tiwa Savage added that the tag likely arose because she was one of the first female artistes in Nigeria to achieve international success, something she appreciates but does not take for granted.
