Uganda Wildlife Authority Marathon Runs for Fallen Rangers’ Children
Kampala turned out in full force for a cause that touched hearts.
The eighth Uganda Wildlife Half Marathon brought together athletes, conservationists, celebrities and families at Kitante Primary School.
Organized by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the race ran under the theme Running to Educate Children of the Fallen Rangers, shining a light on families left behind by heroes who lost their lives protecting Uganda’s wildlife.
Participants competed in 21km, 10km and 5km races. Mark Baryomumisho and Doreen Chesang powered through to win the half marathon, while Kevin Kipaparak impressed in the 10km race. World champion Halima Nakaayi inspired many by joining the run.
Singer Spice Diana added star presence and urged Ugandans to support conservation families.
With backing from partners including Stanbic Bank Uganda, the event raised funds to educate nearly 150 children of fallen rangers.
Held just days before World Wildlife Day on March 3, the marathon carried a clear message. Protecting wildlife also means standing by the families who sacrificed so much.
