Uncle Chumi Jokes About Mary Bata After Bebe Cool List Recognition

Singer Uncle Chumi has shared her excitement after appearing on Bebe Cool’s highly followed annual music list, using the moment to crack jokes about her close friend Mary Bata.

In a TikTok video, Uncle Chumi revealed that she did not pay anything to make it onto the list, saying all she did was give the song a beat, have Shawn Wizzy write the lyrics and then add her vocals.

She jokingly dragged Mary Bata into the conversation, teasing that this was all it took to earn a spot.

The singer went a step further and lightheartedly invited Mary Bata to work on a collaboration so she too can make Bebe Cool’s list this year.

Bebe Cool, a legendary figure in Ugandan music, releases a list every year highlighting songs and artistes who made a strong impact on radio, digital platforms and public conversations.

His 2025 list sparked wide debate within the industry.

Leading the list was his album “Break The Chains,” followed by Joshua Baraka’s “Juvie,” driven by the success of “Wrong Places.”

Elijah Kitaka earned praise for “Ekyange” and “Daily Bundle.”

Other artistes mentioned included Lydia Jazmine, Vinka, Ray G, Kapeke, Tracy Melon and Uncle Chumi, marking her growing visibility in the industry.
