Under Fire From Abitex, Nobat Dismisses Mental Health Claims
Uganda music circles are full of talk after outspoken promoter Nobat stepped in front of cameras to clear his name and hit back at his critics.
Norbert, who proudly calls himself a generational promoter, is no stranger to controversy.
He is known for calling out fellow promoters in public.
Now he is also facing a court matter over alleged computer misuse, adding more heat to an already tense situation.
At a press conference, Norbert addressed rumors about his mental health that he says were spread by fellow promoter Abtex.
I have heard rumors from Abtex claiming that I am mentally unstable and that at any time they are going to take me to a rehabilitation center for treatment. I want to make it very clear that I am not mad.
Nobat said the real fight is not personal but about money that was meant to help promoters.
He claims the issue goes back to funds he says were given by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The real problem between me, Abtex, and his friends is that President Museveni gave promoters 10 billion shillings to be put into a promoters’ SACCO. Unfortunately, they failed to manage and use that money the way it was supposed to be handled. That is why I have been raising alarms so loudly, and now they choose to label me as a mad person.
Nobat also revealed that the matter has reached authorities.
Good enough, today we have been at the Anti-Corruption Unit to record statements. Anytime Abtex will be required to face the law, he will have to answer.
As if that was not enough, Norbert spoke about reports that Abtex could have landed a role in the president’s new cabinet.
He openly questioned whether his rival fits the job.
I hear that President Museveni has given Abitex a position in his new cabinet, but honestly, I do not think he has the proper qualifications for that position.
At the time of writing, Abtex had not yet responded to Nobat’s latest claims or to the doubts raised about his abilities.
What is clear, however, is that the tension between the two promoters is far from settled.
I am not crazy, as Abitex claims to take me forcefully to rehab. A so-called crazy person doesn’t look like me. Apparently, if you don’t have money, you’re labeled crazy. – Nobat Events #SanyukaUnCut #SanyukaUpdates #FfeBannoDdala pic.twitter.com/tTrW2jtCwL
