Waje Draws the Line on Dating Struggling Men
Nigerian singer Waje has revealed what she looks for in a man, and financial stability is non-negotiable.
On a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the 45-year-old said she cannot date or marry a man who is struggling to make ends meet.
At her age, she explained, she does not have the patience to “build” a future with someone.
Waje said a man must lead and inspire growth.
Success, faith, and emotional intelligence are key traits she looks for in a partner.
I cannot marry a man who is not successful, and here is why: I am no longer in my 20s, so we are not growing together. A man should lead by showing vision and ambition. I need to be inspired by him to grow, and if he cannot do that, we cannot be partners. Success is important, and faith and emotional intelligence are also essential.
She also admitted that dating a younger man is not an option.
Waje explained that she is very pragmatic and careful with those close to her, and trying to manage a younger partner would be even harder, potentially creating tension in the relationship.
We would run into problems. I am very practical, and I often have to restrain myself even with my siblings, friends, and family. Now imagine if it were a husband. He would get exhausted. I would end up treating him like a child, and he would resent me.
