Waje Reveals She Was Never Paid for P-Square’s Hit “Do Me”

Nigerian singer Waje has revealed that she was never paid for her vocals on P-Square’s 2007 hit single “Do Me.”

Speaking on the HonestBunch Podcast, she discussed her early struggles in the music industry.

The collaboration, which introduced her voice to a national audience, came without financial reward or formal recognition.

The track, from P-Square’s Game Over album, became one of the biggest hits of the late 2000s, with Waje’s soulful vocals playing a key role.

She often had to convince people that she was the female voice on the song.

Waje said the experience taught her the importance of proper agreements and credit in collaborations, especially for upcoming artistes.

She could not appear in the “Do Me” music video because she did not have a passport, which limited public recognition.

Although the situation left her feeling overlooked, it became a turning point.

It motivated her to pursue a solo career and take full control of her creative work.

Today, Waje is one of Nigeria’s most respected vocalists.

She says the experience reminds her of her humble beginnings and the challenges young talents face in the music industry.
