Why Aaronx Wrote “Njalwala” in Tears
Musician Aaronx, real name Aaron Mukwaya, has shared the deeply emotional inspiration behind his hit song “Njalwala.”
While many fans have always interpreted the soulful track as a romantic love ballad, Aaronx revealed that it was actually born from one of the most painful moments in his life: his mother’s illness.
He said on Deep Talk that he wrote “Njalwala” during a time when his mother was bedridden and awaiting surgery.
The fear of losing her, he explained, is what pushed him to pour his heart into the song’s emotional lyrics.
People think it is a love song, but I was crying out from the pain I felt watching my mother suffer. She is the person who has always fought for me. Even when I messed up and got expelled from school, she paid my fees again. When I got into trouble and ended up in police cells, she was the one who came to my rescue.
He added that growing up, he was not an easy child to raise, yet his mother’s love and sacrifice never wavered.
Writing “Njalwala,” he said, was his way of expressing how empty his world would be without her.
What many assumed was a romantic plea was, in truth, a son’s cry for the woman who gave him everything.
