Why Eth Lawinsky Will No Longer Collaborate with Ugandan Musicians

Budding Ugandan singer Eth Lawinsky, born Ethan Kavuma, has announced that he will no longer work with Ugandan artistes.

Eth, who last released music in 2020, made the revelation during an appearance on Sabrina Agasha’s It’s Never That Serious podcast.

He said that working with Ugandans is draining, and this is the reason he is putting local collaborations on hold.

I am done with Ugandans. No hate. I love my Ugandan people, but working with Ugandans is a bit draining. They take work as a favor. I do not understand how I am paying you to deliver a service and I am chasing you around like you are doing me a favor. I feel like Ugandans have still not mastered the art of working with people. It is always like, ‘I am doing you a favor to work with you even though you are paying me.’ With the Ugandan market, I would like to believe I am done. I have worked with a couple of amazing people, King Saha, Fik Fameica…

The “Mwooli” star added that this attitude is not limited to musicians, but spans the wider creative industry.

Generally It cuts across. Videographers are as lazy as hell. Sorry to say, but I might call you out on that because you might need to know, or anyone out there who would love to venture into the music industry. Not even just the music industry. It cuts across content creation. People are so lazy. Like, what are we doing or what do we want for our brands? So, for me, now, musically, I am putting a pause on working with Ugandan artistes.

Looking ahead, Eth Lawinsky is turning his attention to international collaborations, with names like Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage on his radar.

This move signals a new chapter for the multi-talented star as he seeks fresh opportunities beyond the Ugandan market.
