Why Lydia Jazmine Believes an Artiste’s Own Concert Is Their Biggest Stage

In the world of music, the idea of a “big stage” means different things to different artistes.

For some, it might be sharing the spotlight alongside big performers at a major festival.

For others, it is the moment when they stand alone, commanding the attention of an audience that came just to see them.

Ugandan singer Lydia Jazmine recently reflected on what she sees as the biggest stage of her career so far.

Speaking with Canary Mugume on Big Talk on Next Radio, she shared her belief that an artiste’s own concert is their biggest stage.

For me, I think for every artiste, once you stage a successful concert, that is the biggest stage. A concert is just you. People come for you. It is Lydia Jazmine, not anyone else.

She explained that unlike shows where multiple artistes perform, a solo concert puts the spotlight solely on the individual artiste.

The stages we usually perform on are shows where we are booked alongside maybe 3, 10, or even 20 other artistes. So this [concert] is you, like people come out for you, and only you showcasing yourself.

This milestone, she noted, is a dream for many musicians, marking the moment they truly command their own audience.

It is every artiste’s dream to hold a big concert, and mine was a sold-out concert at Africana last year.

As Lydia Jazmine continues to grow her career, that sold-out night at Hotel Africana stands out as a defining moment on her journey.
