Why Lydia Jazmine Is Putting Career Before Motherhood, for Now
For many women in the spotlight, the question of when to start a family is never far off.
And singer Lydia Jazmine, whose real name is Lydia Nabawanuka, is no exception.
In an interview on Rewind, the “You and Me” hit-maker opened up about the pressure female musicians face when it comes to balancing a career and motherhood.
It [childbirth] worries everyone. There is no one it does not worry, especially us female musicians. The years go by, and you grow older every day. Sometimes we do not want to put our careers on pause. For me, I am not ready to pause my career right now. But I want children. I love them so much.
While she is not ready to slow down professionally, Lydia made it clear that having children is still very much part of her future, and she already knows exactly what she wants.
When I do give birth, it will be to twins. These days, if someone wants twins, they can have them, it is possible. Once I get them, I will start advising people from my own experience. Ugandans believe by seeing.
Right now, Lydia Jazmine has a career-first mindset, but it seems only a matter of time before the bundles of joy arrive, especially since she mentioned that she is working hard for her “children” and “grandchildren.”
