Why Mesach Semakula Has Not Performed at Any Campaign Rally

Uganda is in full campaign mode, with musicians busy performing at rallies across the country.

Their performances have become a key part of energizing supporters and showing allegiance to political parties.

Yet, not all artistes have taken the stage this season.

One notable absence is legendary singer Mesach Semakula.

During a sit down with Daily Soup, Mesach addressed questions about why he has stayed away from campaign rallies.

He questioned whether performing at political events is an obligation for artistes.

Is it a must that someone has to? If it was a must, like how you see the 10 commandments, then I accept that I am at fault.

He went on to clarify that his absence is not due to any ill feelings toward the candidates.

Instead, he expressed his goodwill and respect for all those seeking leadership.

But I wish well for everyone. I do not blame anyone. I wish everyone well in their endeavors, and I strongly respect people’s decisions.

Mesach also explained that his absence is simply because he has not been invited to perform.

They have not yet called me. When they do, I will go.
