Why Moses Matovu Says “Genuine Love” Is Hard to Find Today

Legendary Ugandan musician, saxophonist, and composer Moses Matovu, best known as the leader and co-founder of Afrigo Band, recently shared his thoughts on relationships in today’s world during a chat on Sanyuka Omukwano.

Matovu did not hold back, saying that in modern relationships, secrecy and hidden agendas are so common that genuine love has become a rare find.

Trust is low. People are secretive and not transparent. In most cases, they are after something, and whether they get it or not, problems arise. Genuine love is so hard to find. This is all just from my point of view.

He also addressed men who focus too much on physical appearances when choosing partners, stressing that genuine love should always come first.

You can like something because of their figure, but when there are other qualities that they do not have. You might be drawn to their figure, yet they are missing other key traits. The first thing I advise men to look out for is genuine love.

Matovu further explained how issues can arise even in strong relationships, especially in the age of smartphones.

While phones have their advantages, they can also create misunderstandings, mistrust, and unnecessary conflicts.

You know love when it is just starting. Each partner is the other’s strong companion, but after a short period of time, or if one makes a mistake or talks to someone they do not know, issues begin to arise. Phones have made things even trickier. They have a positive side, but they also create tension. Some people check their partner’s phone without permission and see things or contact names that spark problems./em>

Moses Matovu highlights that love works best when partners are open, honest, and mindful of each other.
