Why Ronald Mayinja Believes Sseggona Is Helping Walukaga Win Busiro East
Musician Ronald Mayinja has spoken out about Mathias Walukaga and his bid for the Busiro East Member of Parliament seat in the 2026 general elections.
The singer-turned-politician is challenging the incumbent, Hon. Medard Lubega Sseggona.
In an effort to weaken Walukaga’s campaign, Sseggona has questioned his academic qualifications, claiming that he himself is more educated and better qualified.
However, Mayinja believes that these attacks are actually benefiting Walukaga.
He explained that Ugandan politics often relies on sympathy and that Sseggona’s remarks are causing the public to sympathize with Walukaga.
This reaction, Mayinja believes, is helping Walukaga secure more votes.
I called Walukaga and told him he is going to win. Every time Hon. Sseggona claims that Walukaga is not educated or lacks qualifications, he is actually rallying support for him. In Uganda, sympathy matters, and right now, people are sympathizing with Walukaga. The moment I heard what Sseggona was saying, I called Walukaga and congratulated him. He is the next MP for Busiro East. All the signs point to his victory. Sseggona has done more to campaign for Walukaga than anyone else.
