Why Uganda Needs More Artistes Like Joshua Baraka, According to A Pass
Ugandan singer A Pass believes the country needs more artistes like Joshua Baraka to grow its music industry globally.
Speaking on NBS After 5, A Pass said Uganda should aim to produce at least 10 to 15 artistes who can compete on the international stage.
He pointed to Baraka as one of the young musicians currently making progress beyond Uganda’s borders.
He said the industry should stop focusing on only a few established stars and instead give more attention to emerging talents.
To explain his point, A Pass compared Uganda’s situation to Nigeria’s music industry, where several artistes have risen at the same time.
Stars like Ayra Starr, Tems, Rema, Wizkid, and Burna Boy have all helped push Nigerian music onto the global stage.
According to A Pass, Uganda could achieve similar success if the industry expands its support beyond a small group of artistes.
