Women Enhance Themselves to Attract Men — Pia Pounds
Long nails, extended lashes, bold lipstick and added hair often spark debate, especially when the woman wearing them is in the public eye.
For some, the look reflects confidence and self expression.
For others, it invites quick criticism.

During a conversation with NOW Media UG, Ugandan singer Pia Pounds, born Tracy Kirabo, stepped into that discussion and approached it from a wider perspective.
Instead of limiting the issue to celebrity culture, she spoke about women in general and said the desire to enhance is something she believes comes naturally to them.
I think as women, God created us with a love for enhancements. Lashes, lipstick, hair, we really like to enhance ourselves because we are flowers and we be attracting you [men].
She added that many women enhance themselves because it helps them feel good about who they are, explaining that inner confidence makes someone attractive on the outside.
First of all, if I feel beautiful inside, it is easier for me to be attractive. It is very hard to be attractive when you do not feel attractive.

Pia Pounds noted that women express beauty in different ways, with some keeping their nails natural while others prefer enhanced ones.
However, she insisted that decorated nails are the ones that turn heads.
Some people feel attractive even with their short nails, but if I come with mine that are decorated, I will take the attention away from them.
After speaking broadly about women, she connected the discussion to her profession, where she says visibility matters.
Remember, I am a musician. I want to have attention on me. When I walk into a room, I want everybody to look at me. That is why we enhance ourselves. When I am home, cooking, I can remove the enhancements.
For Pia Pounds, enhancements begin with self confidence and, as a performer, become part of how she owns the room.
