Ykee Benda Claims Musicians with Gangs Are the Ones Who Provoke the Most
In late 2024 and early 2025, the issue of musicians moving with gangs became a heated topic following violent clashes between the camps of Alien Skin and Pallaso.
The chaos sparked widespread criticism from both the public and fellow artistes, dominating conversations on social media.
As concerns grew, the police intervened, issuing a directive discouraging musicians from moving with more than five people.
While some artistes defended the practice, citing security concerns or professional working teams, others argued that these entourages were contributing to unnecessary conflict in the industry.
In an interview with NBS After 5, singer Ykee Benda shared his perspective, explaining why he chooses not to surround himself with a gang, locally referred to as “Egaali.”
He pointed out that those who move with gangs are often the ones instigating trouble, provoking others, and engaging in fights.
Unlike them, he focuses on his work and avoids unnecessary confrontations, questioning why he would need a gang if he is not looking for trouble.
As the debate continues, the industry remains divided on whether gangs are truly essential, as some musicians claim, or merely fueling violence.
