You Do Not Deserve a Collaboration If You Have to Pay for It – Laika Music

Laika Music, a rising star in Uganda’s music industry, has collaborated with several artistes on various songs, including Fik Fameica and Vinka.

During a recent media interview, she shared the criteria she follows when choosing collaborators, noting that it changes every year.

“Every time I do a collaboration, I have a different purpose,” she revealed.

Looking ahead, Laika revealed that she is now focusing on upcountry and regional collaborations.

Her aim, however, is not to chase big names, but to work with artistes who hold real influence within their communities.

“I will not necessarily be looking to collaborate with the top artistes in different regions, but with the influential ones,” she noted.

She went on to reveal that all her collaborations have been based on mutual connection, not financial transactions.

“It has to be a vibe. If you have to pay for a collaboration, then you do not deserve it,” she emphasized.

Although Laika is open to collaborating with other musicians, she admits that she sometimes turns down opportunities depending on her mental state.

Even when she does go ahead with collaborations, the releases are sometimes delayed due to the timing of her own music schedule.
