As Uganda prepares to celebrate Halima Namakula’s 50-year career in music and the creative arts, singer Rema Namakula has shared a heartfelt tribute to the woman she describes as a mother figure.

Speaking at the press conference for the upcoming “Halima Namakula: Living Legends Gala,” set for July 26 at Serena Hotel, Rema did not hold back her admiration.

Her words painted a portrait of a woman whose influence extends far beyond her music.

“There are so many names we call her. Auntie Halima, Mama Halima,” she said, referencing Halima with affection.

For Rema, Halima is a living example of what it means to be a woman in the music industry while still leading with softness, strength, and grace.

She recalled seeing Halima as the first female figure who showed her that it was possible to shine without losing one’s sense of self.

“You did not just open doors. You held them open for the rest of us. For me,” she said, her voice filled with emotion.

Rema also acknowledged Halima’s ongoing support for young artistes over the years, recognizing her as a star-maker.

“You have raised stars not only in music, but in life,” she added.

She then congratulated Halima on her Golden Jubilee and wished her even more beautiful moments in the years to come.

“From my heart to yours. Thank you for paving the way. I love you,” she concluded.
