Your Next Client Depends on Your Last One — Dr. Solomon Kimera

When it comes to commercial content creation for brands in Uganda, Dr. Solomon Kimera is a name that pops up.

The doctor-turned-content-creator has built a strong reputation, reflected in his growing list of brand collaborations.

Recently, he sat down with YouTuber Allan Cruz to share advice for creators looking to boost their bookings in the advertising world.

He emphasized that how you handle your current clients directly affects whether new ones come knocking.

Your next client is determined by the previous client you have worked for. That is why, when you get a client, work for them like there is no tomorrow. The new client will see the work you did for the previous client and say, ‘This young person is actually good at making adverts,’ and they will also book you. That is how the business keeps growing.

Dr. Kimera also stressed that professional conduct is crucial in the content creation industry.

As long as you continue behaving well, that is also a checkpoint. How many influencers behave inappropriately? Someone pays you to make an advert, and you switch off your phone. Respect and integrity are key. This includes how you talk to people and how you address them. If you agree to meet at 1 pm, do you show up at that exact time? Respecting people’s time. If you promise to make three videos for a client for a certain amount and they pay you, why deliver only two?

Finally, he reminded creators that clients are often connected, and poor conduct with one can affect future bookings.

Clients are connected, and they often know each other. If you act unprofessionally, take money without delivering, or block a client, word spreads. Marketers often check backgrounds online and through their networks. No client wants to associate with someone who insults others or is constantly involved in conflicts on social media. Discipline, respect, integrity, and being God-fearing are very important.
