ZA Rapper Da L.E.S Shares Raw Recovery Journey After Devastating Stroke
South African American hip-hop artiste Da Les is showing the world what true strength looks like, one step at a time.
Nearly a year after suffering a massive stroke on his 39th birthday, the “Summer Time” rapper has opened up like never before, revealing the intense physical and emotional battle he has been fighting to reclaim his life.
In a powerful new vlog, the hitmaker gives fans a front-row seat into his grueling recovery process in Houston, Texas, where he is undergoing daily physiotherapy with the help of a dedicated coach.
From walking down stairs to using a robotic glove to regain hand function, every moment is raw, real, and deeply inspiring.
“This is real. This is something that normal people go through,” Da Les says in the emotional video.
“No one is immune to it. It can happen to anyone.”
The stroke, which hit on 26 July 2024, nearly killed him.
The once high-flying star was suddenly reliant on doctors, machines, and the support of close friends and family, including fellow music heavyweights L Tido and Nasty C.
Da Les thanked his fans for their unwavering love, saying their support gave him the strength to keep going.
“There are thousands of people whose stories need to be told, and they can do it through me,” he said.
Though the road to recovery is long, the rapper is determined to keep pushing forward, not just for himself, but for every person who sees their own struggle reflected in his.
He may have been knocked down, but Da Les is far from out.
