Ray J Opens Up About Severe Heart Condition and Fears for the Future
Ray J has shared troubling details about his health, revealing that his heart is functioning at only twenty-five percent and that doctors have warned his condition is life-threatening.
The 45-year-old singer and actor spoke in emotional videos circulating online after he was hospitalized earlier this month with a severe case of pneumonia.
In the footage, Ray J says doctors informed him that years of excessive alcohol and drug use caused serious damage to his heart.
He claimed part of his heart has turned black and is no longer working properly.
Ray J admitted that at the height of his addiction, he drank four to five bottles of alcohol a day and took as many as ten Adderall pills.
He said he believed he could handle the lifestyle until his body gave in.
Friends in the background of the videos encouraged him to remain hopeful and believe he would live long enough to raise his children.
In an interview with TMZ, Ray J said he is currently on eight heart medications and has been advised to rest, avoid smoking and drinking, and prepare for the possibility of a pacemaker or defibrillator.
He also revealed that due to a restraining order involving his estranged wife, Princess Love, he has not seen his children as his health has declined.
