Biswanka to Quit Music in December, Says His Life is in Danger
Rising singer Biswanka, whose real name is Derrick Biswanka, has shocked fans after revealing he will quit music by the end of this year.
The self-proclaimed star took to Facebook to announce his decision, saying he is tired of being attacked by fellow musicians and the media.
According to Biswanka, some artistes are even threatening to end his life just because he proudly calls himself a star.
“I have received a lot of intimidation from many artists wanting to kill me simply because I chant and brag that I am so big in Uganda,” he wrote.
He explained that he has faced constant criticism and propaganda from media personalities, yet he has never disrespected anyone unless provoked.
Additionally, he believes he is one of the most talked-about artistes in the country and says entertainers like him are the ones who keep the industry alive.
“We the stars whose image is portrayed as indisciplined, violent, I think we are the very artists that act as basic needs in the entertainment industry because in our absence no news,” he wrote.
The singer went on to compare his struggles to those of the late Mowzey Radio and expressed sadness that Uganda often celebrates talent only after an artiste has passed away.
Still, he is confident that his Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and love songs will ensure he is always remembered just like Philly Bongoley Lutaaya.
“I will miss the music industry, but I have to choose between staying alive or singing and dying,” Biswanka cried out.
