Fans Convinced Me Not to Quit Music, Says Biswanka

Ugandan singer Biswanka, real name Derrick Biswanka, has explained why he abandoned his earlier decision to quit music.

In April 2025, Biswanka announced that he planned to leave the music industry at the end of the year.

At the time, he said he had received several threats from different people and claimed some individuals wanted to harm him because of his braggart statements.

He also said he had become a frequent target of criticism from fellow artistes and media personalities since joining the industry.

PUBLIC NOTICE, Attention: This serves to humbly inform the country and all my fans that, due to the much criticism put on me as a new Ugandan star, many of my haters claim that I am indisciplined simply because I call myself a star. I personally, Biswanka, the owner of a new music label known as Heaven Music, am quitting my music career in December this year. I have received a lot of intimidation from many artists who want to kill me simply because I chant and brag that I am so big in Uganda, mbu mbasusseeko. I have always been one of the most fought artists by media personnel through propaganda, yet I have never insulted a person before being insulted first. We, the stars whose image is portrayed as indisciplined and violent, are actually the very artists that act as basic needs in the entertainment industry because, in our absence, there is no news. I will miss the art industry, but I had to take a decision: either to stay alive while not singing, or to sing and be killed by fellow artists. I think I have done a lot for Ugandan music. My music will be here to stay because I have a Christmas song, a Valentine’s song, and love songs. I will be remembered just like Philly Lutaaya because I have done a lot. Naye lwaki Uganda temwagaliza bitone bya maanyi? The way I am criticized is the way Mowzey Radio was criticized, but when I die ate mujja kukubanga. Sorry to my fans that will miss me.

But despite the announcement, Biswanka has continued releasing music in 2026, raising questions among fans about what changed.

Addressing the issue, the “Ontunulemu” hitmaker told Rewind that he reconsidered the decision after receiving strong support from his fans.

According to him, many people encouraged him to stay in the industry and continue making music.

You know we have many fans, and sometimes they hype you up saying, “Do not quit. If you do, you will have disappointed us. In whose hands are you going to leave the music industry?” They begged me not to quit, and I decided to stay and continue singing. I chose to stay for my fans, not for the people who do not like me.

True to his braggart nature, Biswanka also claimed to have achieved legendary status in Uganda’s music industry.

I am the youngest legend in Uganda. My music makes me a legend.
