Kalifah AgaNaga: If Others Can Fill Lugogo Cricket Oval, Why Can’t I?

Many Ugandan artistes consider a successful concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval a major statement.

The iconic venue has become one of the biggest tests of an artiste’s drawing power, with thousands of fans expected to turn up for any musician bold enough to take on the challenge.

Yet despite spending more than 15 years in the music industry, Kalifah AgaNaga has never headlined a concert at the venue.

That reality has led some music fans to question whether the singer has what it takes to fill the Cricket Oval, especially as he prepares to celebrate a major milestone in his career.

Kalifah, however, does not share those doubts.

Speaking during a recent interview, he said he believes he is just as capable as other artistes who have already held successful concerts at the venue.

If artistes like Karole Kasita, Feffe Bussi, King Saha, Pallaso, and others who just started their music careers can fill up Lugogo, why not me?

He insisted that he does not see himself as being below any of the artistes who have already conquered the venue.

The only difference between them and me is that they have done it first, and I have not.

According to Kalifah, the issue is not a lack of fans or confidence.

Instead, he believes he has the audience and influence needed to attract a large crowd whenever he decides to stage a concert there.

His remarks come as preparations reportedly continue for a major concert later this year to celebrate 15 years in music.

While the event is expected to take place at Serena Hotel Kampala, Kalifah is clearly not intimidated by the thought of one day taking on Lugogo Cricket Oval.

In his view, the only thing separating him from the artistes who have already done it is timing.
