Timothy Code Honors DJ Bush Baby: A Mentor, Big Brother, and Legend
The loss of Michael Owor, famously known as DJ Bush Baby, continues to leave a profound impact on Uganda’s entertainment scene.
Among the many who have paid tribute is Timothy Code, a rapper and Next Radio presenter who credits DJ Bush Baby for shaping both his career and personal growth.
In a deeply emotional social media post, Timothy Code described DJ Bush Baby as a mentor and big brother who helped him become the best version of himself.
Their journey began nine years ago, following an interview Timothy Code did on Urban TV.
Impressed by his potential, DJ Bush Baby urged the producer to arrange a screen test and later offered Timothy Code his first job as a TV presenter on The Hood/Skizzy show.
What seemed like a simple opportunity quickly became a life-changing moment.
DJ Bush Baby also invited him to join the award-winning VUQA Cypher alongside Uganda’s top talent.
As the youngest MC on the project, Timothy Code was determined to make his mentor proud.
Beyond music, DJ Bush Baby taught him how to harness the power of media to promote their craft, offering guidance and support throughout the tour.
Over the years, Timothy Code benefited greatly from DJ Bush Baby’s wealth of wisdom and creative direction, which influenced many of his career decisions.
He fondly recalls that being in DJ Bush Baby’s presence was always a blessing filled with learning and reassurance.
Last year, they reunited to introduce the old-school-themed event called The Reminisce to Kigali, embarking on a long but rewarding road trip.
Timothy Code admired DJ Bush Baby’s leadership and care for his team, as well as his patriotism, which shone through when he asked Timothy to carry the Ugandan flag wherever they went.
Their final meeting was in May 2025 at the Soul Train event at SILO, where Timothy Code remembers a joyful embrace and the pride of being in the company of his mentor once again.
“Bush Baby is a legend. Countless lives have been touched by your kindness and grace. My only prayer is that we pass on your wisdom and creativity to the next generation, with the core message of humility, your shining trait among all others,” he wrote.
With boundless love and respect, Timothy Code bids farewell to his mentor and big brother, thanking DJ Bush Baby for the life-changing influence he had on him and many others.
