UK Rapper Ghetts Sentenced to 12 Years in Fatal Hit-and-Run Case
Ghetts has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after a fatal road incident that claimed the life of a university student.
The 41-year-old UK rapper, whose real name is Justin Clarke Samuel, admitted to causing death by dangerous driving.
The case involved 20-year-old student Yubin Tamang, who was struck by a car traveling at more than 60 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.
Tamang died in hospital two days after the crash.
The sentencing took place at the Old Bailey in London.
Judge Mark Lucraft described the driving as shocking while outlining the seriousness of the offence.
Investigators traced the vehicle through a damaged wing mirror that was left at the scene.
Police later located the badly damaged car parked near the rapper’s home.
Along with the prison term, Ghetts has also been banned from driving for 17 years.
