Yeni Kuti Refuses to Pick Sides in Wizkid and Seun Kuti Fight
Yeni Kuti has reacted to the online clash between Wizkid and her brother, Seun Kuti.
Speaking on TV, the daughter of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti said she chose not to join the fight.
Her reason was simple. Wizkid is a close friend, and she did not want to add to the insults.
I love Wizkid a lot. You know, Wizkid is my padi now. When two giants fight, it is the grass that suffers. I refuse to enter some of the insults that they are hauling because I love Wizkid a lot. Wizkid is my padi now and my so friend. We have come a long way together.
The drama started after Seun attacked Wizkid FC for comparing Wizkid’s influence to Fela’s legacy.
The argument grew over several days and later pulled Wizkid into the conversation, sparking heavy backlash online.
But Yeni refused to pick sides. Instead, she urged Nigerians to calm down and show respect to Fela’s name.
Let’s mend fences, we are one people. We are just about to go and celebrate our icon at the Grammy and you all doing as if you are trying to dent it. It is not Fela or Fela family that you are denting, it is all Nigeria.
She also reminded people that Fela’s impact is already known worldwide, and there is no need for fights over comparisons.
In the end, Yeni called for peace and unity, saying the public should focus on celebrating the icon, not tearing each other apart.
