His wife, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce on September 11, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences, according to court documents obtained by People Magazine and TMZ.
The couple, married in 1996, share a 17-year-old daughter, Journey.
Tomeka is seeking joint legal custody with primary physical custody and has requested spousal support while blocking any claims from Akon.
Social media rumors claimed Tomeka demanded €100 million or that only $10,000 was in Akon’s account, but sources confirm there is no evidence.
