Are You Really Friends… Or Do You Just Hang Out?

Many people today call almost everyone “my friend,” but the truth is not everyone you hang out with is your friend.

Some people are only close because it is convenient. You are in the same place, you share the same plans, and you enjoy the same vibes.

Hanging out is easy. You meet, laugh, take pictures, and have a good time. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is not the same as real friendship. True friendship comes with care, respect, and loyalty.

The difference becomes clear when life gets hard. When you are stressed, broke, sick, or going through problems, some people disappear. They stop checking on you because they were only there for the good moments. A real friend stays, even when it is not fun or easy.

Some people also stay close for benefits like money, connections, or clout. They enjoy what you can do for them, not who you are. When the benefits reduce, they reduce too.

In the end, it is okay to have people you hang out with, but do not confuse it with friendship.

Ask yourself a simple question: are you really friends, or do you just hang out together?
