Ariyike Dimples Says She Quit Church After Elder Shamed Her Outfit

Ariyike Dimples has revealed she stopped going to church for three years because of a single comment about her clothes.

The actress said it all started when an elderly woman in her community church told her she would “go to hell” for wearing a pencil skirt.

The moment left her stunned, embarrassed, and fed up.

According to Ariyike, the church was already full of strict rules and older members, with almost no young people left.

She said the judgment that day became the final push she needed to walk away.

She added that the elder even reported her to her father, forcing her to defend herself by sending photos of the skirt to her mother.

I stopped going to church because I wore a pencil skirt and an elderly woman told me I would go to hell fire. I was shocked and felt unfairly judged, so I stayed away from church for three years. Thankfully, I was already living on my own. She even reported me to my dad. I had to take a picture of the skirt and send it to my mum to show that I was not dressed indecently. My dad believed in the idea of a community raising a child, so I chose to avoid the community church to keep the peace and stay out of their scrutiny.

To avoid more stress, she decided to stay away from the community church completely.

Ariyike made it clear that she did not abandon her faith.

She said she is still a practicing Christian, just no longer in a space where she feels judged for something as simple as her outfit.
