Balaam Warns Chicken Chicken Over Use of Children in Content
Balaam Barugahara has publicly warned content creators against using children in online content without proper consent, specifically calling out TikToker Chicken Chicken.
The Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs said he received a formal complaint from Betty Namboze Bakireke and children’s rights advocates over the treatment of minors in some online videos.
According to Balaam, the complaints raised concerns about children appearing in content under questionable conditions.
This behavior must stop. I fully concur with the observations raised by the concerned leaders and stakeholders.
He said he personally reviewed several clips, including one involving Chicken Chicken, where a child allegedly kneels before receiving food.
Balaam described the incident as troubling and warned creators against turning children into online content without their consent.
Mr. Chicken Chicken is hereby advised to caution his associates, including individuals such as aunt “Chuni” and others involved in similar activities, to refrain from harassing or exploiting minors.
While acknowledging the role of discipline, the minister stressed that creators should never turn children into public entertainment for views or engagement.
He further warned that such acts could violate child protection laws, privacy regulations, labor protections, and cyber safety rules.
This serves as a strong warning… stop immediately. Let us not exploit children and minors for views or personal gain. Our responsibility is to protect them, not expose them.
His remarks add to the growing debate around children’s exposure on social media and the responsibilities content creators carry when involving minors online.
