BassBoi Urges Bebe Cool to Celebrate Creatives With Money, Not Lists
Ugandan producer BassBoi has weighed in on Bebe Cool’s annual list, and he is not buying the hype.
Bebe Cool released his 2025 picks as usual, sparking the usual noise online.
But BassBoi says the list is not a measure of who actually won the year.
Speaking to Rewind, he insisted it is simply based on what Bebe Cool listened to and liked.
It is just his personal opinion, like how they say Obama’s list. It is about the music he listened to that year. So, it is personal.
The producer then challenged Bebe Cool to appreciate creatives in a more meaningful way.
He argued that if the singer truly wants to celebrate the industry, he should back it up with tangible support, not just mentions.
If someone wants to appreciate and celebrate creatives [musicians, songwriters, producers], he should give us money. Let him award us with money or actual awards, not a list.
He also addressed why producers often miss out on the list, despite being behind many hit songs.
According to him, it comes down to ignorance about the production field.
I know he has no idea about that, given that he has never been a producer. He does not know the criteria to use to choose… that is why his focus is on musicians.
