Kafeero Estate Moves to Take Legal Action Over Unauthorized Song Remakes

Lawyer Namakajo Derrick Fredrick, who represents the estate of the late Paul Job Kafeero, has warned artistes against remaking or performing the singer’s songs without permission.

The warning follows a notice issued by Prince Job Paul Kafeero Cultural Heritage.

According to Namakajo, many artistes have been re recording and performing Kafeero’s songs without approval from the estate.

He said covering songs is not necessarily wrong, but artistes must first seek permission from those managing the late singer’s music.

The lawyer added that some remade versions have damaged the dignity and original value of Kafeero’s songs.

He revealed that the legal team is preparing to take action against artistes who continue to use the music without authorization.

Namakajo stressed that the law protects the late singer’s music and urged artistes to respect copyright so Kafeero’s legacy and family are protected.
