BNXN Questions Rise Of AI Generated Artwork In Music

The conversation around artificial intelligence (AI) and creativity is getting louder across Africa’s entertainment industry.

This time, Nigerian singer BNXN has added his voice to the debate after criticising the growing use of AI generated cover art in music promotions.

The Afrobeats star recently reacted to the trend on X, formerly Twitter, where he openly expressed frustration with poorly made AI generated visuals.

I cannot stand behind an A.I cover. Especially if it is terrible work.

His reaction quickly connected with many fans, designers, and digital creatives who feel AI is starting to flood online spaces with repetitive and low effort artwork.

Still, others defended AI and argued that the technology can help artistes work faster and explore different creative ideas.

Interestingly, similar conversations have already been happening in Uganda.

Ugandan media personality Douglas Lwanga previously warned business owners against relying too heavily on AI generated promotional materials instead of hiring graphic designers.

Dear biz owners plz Limit using Ai flyers to advertise your business. While Artificial intelligence tools are helpful in design, do not replace your graphics designer yet.

Lwanga also criticised the quality of some AI generated flyers making rounds online.

The flyers we see online neda neda. Uganda has skilled GFX artists give them work. Let us be guided and end shortcuts.

As the technology keeps evolving, creatives from different countries continue wrestling with the same issue: how to embrace innovation without losing the human touch behind art and entertainment.
