Cindy Defends Artistes Mocked Over Viral Spice Meeting
Cindy Sanyu has come to the defense of fellow Ugandan artistes after their now viral interaction with Jamaican dancehall star Spice sparked debate online.
The conversation started after artistes including Bucha Man, Ziza Bafana, Mark Da Urban, and Fik Gaza appeared overly excited while meeting Spice during a press conference.
As clips from the event spread online, many social media users mocked the artistes for trying too hard to impress the Jamaican singer through freestyles and animated reactions.
Cindy, however, believes people are ignoring how overwhelming such moments can become when artistes finally meet someone they admire.
When you meet the person you like so much, you are at a loss for words. In a way, they were not well composed as they should have been. The Ziza Bafana, Buchaman, and Mark Da Urban that we have known for a long time just disappeared.
The singer added that excitement can easily take over and cause people to lose composure in unexpected moments.
Sometimes, such situations fail you because of the excitement, but pardon them and understand that it was because of the excitement.
She also weighed in on Fik Gaza’s reported collaboration with Spice, urging the singer to stay true to his sound instead of changing his identity to fit international music.
Fik Gaza is a good artiste. Such collaborations with famous artists require you to stay original. The Ugandan artist must remain Ugandan, and the Jamaican artist must remain Jamaican. That’s the only way you will create something beautiful.
Cindy went on to stress that moments like these should unite the industry because success for one Ugandan artiste can help open doors for many others.
I love it that this time Fik is to benefit from it; next time it could be me. We have to wish well for our fellow Ugandans. It is a win for the industry either way.
