Gloria Bugie Says Peter Miles And Nutty Neithan Deserved Spice Concert Slots

Jamaican dancehall star Spice turned Lugogo Cricket Oval into a giant party on May 9 as thousands of fans packed what many described as Uganda’s biggest dancehall concert in recent years.

The show also featured top local acts including Cindy Sanyu, Ziza Bafana, Mark Da Urban, Karole Kasita, Navio, Ritah Dancehall and Sheebah Karungi, who kept revelers entertained throughout the night.

Among those in attendance was singer Gloria Bugie, who later opened up about why she was not part of the performers lineup.

Speaking on Rewind, Gloria explained that while she occasionally experiments with dancehall music, she does not see herself as a full dancehall artiste and therefore did not feel excluded from the event.

Not at all. First of all, I do not specifically do dancehall, though I do it sometimes. But when I look into my catalogue, I do not even have two or three dancehall songs.

Still, she admitted that some genuine dancehall artistes deserved a chance to perform at the concert.

That was a dancehall event and they had to give a chance to all dancehall artistes. It hurt me that there are some people they did not bring, and some they brought do not even do dancehall music.

Gloria specifically mentioned Peter Miles and Nutty Neithan among the artistes she expected to see on the lineup.

Despite her concerns, the “Nyash” hitmaker said she still enjoyed the concert and praised the overall experience.

But the show was perfect. I was happy to be there and experience it. I love Spice.

She added that Cindy Sanyu and Spice delivered some of her favorite performances of the night.
