Lwasa Dragged to Court Over 21 Million Shilling Debt
Masaka city businessman Emmanuel Lwasa is facing the law over a 21 million shilling loan that has landed him in hot water.
Reports indicate that Basajji Robert lent Lwasa the money, with the agreement that it would be repaid quickly along with profits.
To secure the loan, Lwasa left his car as collateral.
But things took a turn when authorities confiscated the vehicle, claiming it was not registered in his name.
Lwasa appeared in court on charges of obtaining money by false pretence and pleaded not guilty.
The court granted him non-cash bail of 40 million shillings, while his wife, Mariam, who stood as his surety, was assigned non-cash bail of 30 million shillings.
Following the hearing, Lwasa was allowed to return home, but he is expected back in court on 8th January 2026 to continue the proceedings.
