Mun*G Opens Up About Leaving Baboon Forest Entertainment and Starting Anew

In an interview on Flexx, Mun*G addressed his departure from Baboon Forest Entertainment in February 2014, putting to rest any rumors of conflict or dismissal.

He explained that his exit from the label, founded by fellow LugaFlow rapper GNL Zamba, was on good terms and came at the natural end of his contract.

I left in peace. My contract had expired. It was a three-year contract.

Mun*G also reflected on the music industry at the time, noting how being signed under another artist often limited one’s credibility with fans.

Back then, musicians were not taken seriously if they were under someone. That is why so many artistes would leave the people they were under. People wanted to know if an artiste could stand on their own.

After parting ways with Baboon Forest Entertainment, he established Kunta Kinte Entertainment, marking a new chapter in his career as he sought to establish himself as a standalone artiste.
