Nathalie Makoma: Fame and Crowds Left Me Feeling Empty
As fans count down to Makoma’s concert at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, lead singer Nathalie Makoma has shared a striking reflection on the hollow side of fame.
During an interview on After 5, Nathalie said that despite having money and cheering crowds, there was a persistent sense of emptiness.
“I had money. But that was the thing – I was empty,” she said.
She described performing to enthusiastic audiences only to leave feeling unfulfilled.
“What have I really gained from this?” she asked, reciting the question she asked herself after major shows.
Makoma’s music defined gospel worship for millions across Africa, and their return to Uganda this week marks a major moment for fans who grew up with their songs.
The group will headline Friday’s celebration concert organized by Vision Group and supported by Next Media through it’s brands NBS TV, Sanyuka TV and Afromobile.
