Sir Aludah Questions Value of Versatility in DJing
For years, versatility has been seen as a major strength in entertainment, especially in DJing.
The more styles a DJ could handle, the more valuable they appeared.
Now, Sir Aludah is pushing back against that belief.
The renowned Ugandan DJ and sound engineer, widely known as the “King of Turntables,” recently shared his view on X, warning that trying to cover too many styles can blur a DJ’s identity.
Without a clear identity, standing out becomes more difficult.
He instead emphasized the need for DJs to focus on one genre and fully commit to it.
Djs,
Being versatile might never get you on that big stage. You basically have no identity. Time to specialize and lock into one genre.

Sir Aludah’s take has since caught attention online, raising a bigger question about what truly matters more today: range or identity.
