Brymo Calls on Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy to Make Way for Younger Artistes
Brymo has called on Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy to step aside and allow younger artistes to take over the spotlight.
The Nigerian singer-songwriter singer argued that the industry spends too much time celebrating established stars while overlooking a new generation of talent ready to lead the conversation.
Speaking during an interview with TVC, Brymo criticized the popular “Big 3” narrative, claiming some artistes want to hold on to their dominance and remain relevant forever.
We need to stop talking about how the new artistes do not have lyrical substance and focus on how some artistes want to lock down the industry for themselves with the ‘Big 3’ narrative and continue reigning forever.
Brymo believes the focus should now shift to younger acts, singling out Rema as the artiste who deserves to sit at the top of Nigeria’s pop scene.
They should shift aside. Right now, Rema should be the biggest pop star in the country without any doubt.
He also questioned why conversations about pop music continue to revolve around veteran stars when younger artistes are shaping the genre’s future.
