Feffe Bussi Rejects Claims That Ugandan Rappers Are Poor

Ugandan hip-hop has long faced criticism from people who believe the genre attracts small audiences and little money compared to mainstream music styles.

But lugaflow rapper Feffe Bussi believes that perception is unfair and says financial success has nothing to do with the genre an artiste chooses.

While appearing on the Keep It A Hunnid Podcast, Feffe questioned why people always target hip-hop whenever conversations about money come up.

Which genre makes money? If you give me another genre, I will ask: does everyone in that genre have money?

According to him, success depends more on discipline, investment, and work ethic than the type of music an artiste performs.

He added that artistes with stronger work ethic will naturally earn more than others.

Having money depends on so many things. You cannot just put it on one genre and say that because someone is doing a certain genre of music, they do not have money. There is discipline when it comes to money, how you invest your money, and your work ethic. You are not going to make the same money as someone who has a strong work ethic.

The conversation comes at a crucial moment for Feffe as he prepares for his “Hip-Hop Ku Ntiko” concert scheduled for May 16, 2026, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.

The show will celebrate his 10-year journey in the music industry and also marks his debut show at the iconic venue.

For many fans, the concert could become an important moment for Ugandan hip-hop as Feffe attempts to prove the genre can attract massive crowds at one of the country’s biggest concert grounds.
