How Acidic Vokoz Found His Place on “Ki Uganda Kinyuma”
Ugandan vocalist Acidic Vokoz is one of the voices behind “Ki Uganda Kinyuma,” Uganda’s newest anthem of pride.
The song, a powerful collaboration featuring Omega 256, Mark D Urban and Feffe Bussi, dropped on October 3 and has already taken YouTube and social media by storm.
Across platforms, fans are talking, sharing and streaming the song that celebrates Uganda in a fresh way.
Speaking to NBS After 5, Acidic revealed that his involvement began unexpectedly with a simple phone call.
They actually contacted me, one of the artistes that we had worked with. They said, ‘Vokoz, we want something that we want to cook, are you ready?’ I said yes, if it is all about music, I am always and forever ready.
For Acidic, the appeal went beyond the music itself. It was the chance to work with artists from different parts of the country.
Being that they were all from different regions and I was from the East, I said it was okay. It would actually be a blessing to be together with you guys on the project. I said, let’s do it, and we made it.
The phrase “Ki Uganda Kinyuma” loosely translates to “Uganda is fun.”
Acidic’s contribution adds depth to the track, blending effortlessly with rap, dancehall and R&B influences to create something that is unifying.
