Why John Blaq Never Held Another Concert After Filling Freedom City
Nearly seven years after packing out Freedom City for his maiden concert, John Blaq has finally explained why he never rushed to stage another one.
The singer, born John Kasadha, says he deliberately stayed away from holding back to back concerts because he wanted fans to miss him and demand another show.
Speaking to controversial Sweden-based Ugandan blogger Peng Peng, John Blaq said forcing concerts on people too often can have the opposite effect.

It is not good to force yourself on people. If I held a concert in 2019, then did another in 2020 and 2021, it would be too soon. I want to create demand and make people thirsty for the concert.
He also pointed to his age and experience at the time, explaining that he still had a lot to learn after breaking into the music industry.
Another thing, I entered the industry when I was still young, when there was still a lot I needed to know and learn before holding back to back concerts.
John Blaq’s rise happened quickly. After launching his professional career in 2018, he broke through with Tukwatagane, a hit that turned him into one of the country’s most talked about young artistes.
His momentum continued with collaborations and chart topping releases before culminating in the “Aya Basi” Concert at Freedom City in November 2019.
The concert filled the venue to capacity and later expanded into regional shows in Jinja and Mbarara, but it also turned out to be his last major headline show.
After years away from the concert stage, John Blaq now appears ready to make his return, having confirmed plans for a 2026 event.

I am planning on staging a concert this year… just know this year John Blaq has to put up a concert in the name of God.
He has already indicated that Hotel Africana is his preferred venue, saying many of his supporters are young people and students who would find more expensive concert venues harder to afford.
